See how the new Google Photos Memories mode works

At the beginning of September, Google Photos announced the inclusion of a new feature for users: Memories mode. Want to know how Google Photos Memories mode works? So keep an eye on this article.

The idea is already an old acquaintance of Facebook , Instagram and Snapchat users . An image gallery gathers photos and videos that are "birthday" and displays them in full screen right when you access the application. From then on, you decide whether you want to share the content on social networks.

How to use Google Photos Memories mode?

In principle, this is an automatic feature included with Google Photos. This means that you don't have to do anything at all for the photos to appear. If they are "on a birthday", then the service itself makes a selection and displays them to you.

Initially, only the primary user has access to the content - even in the case of users using shared image accounts. The selections display appears at the top of the screen, over the images saved in Google Photos, in circles similar to that of Instagram Stories .

Smart features

According to Google, the tool's algorithm uses  machine learning to make the selection. Because of this, duplicate images or content in which you do not appear or that do not belong to a particular series are also not linked.

Another interesting aspect is that the user can choose not to review photos from certain periods. For example, if you have saved photos of people who have passed away or of ex-boyfriends and would not like them to be suggested, just check the option to hide periods or people - the photos are deleted by date or by facial recognition.

Google Photos Memories mode now available?

Although the feature has already been officially launched by Google, it is possible that not all users have been able to access it. That's because, as it always does, the company releases its updates in waves.

As users update their apps, they can receive the news.

It is worth remembering that, at least for now, the feature will only be available in the application, that is, accessing Google Photos through the browser will not display the novelty.

Function still to be improved

According to Google, even after the resource has been made available to everyone, more news should paint in the application. The company promises to make sharing these image selections even easier with friends and family.

This way, during a private conversation, you will be able to receive suggestions for selections of memories to share with your contact - being able to decide if you want to do this or not. Only you will have access to the selection and it will only be public if you have your authorization.

Finally, in the United States, Google has partnered with two retail chains so that users can have photos printed in more than 11,000 locations.
